U13 BCSPL Pre-Intake Development Program

Program Overview

The 2024 SUSC U13 BCSPL Pre-Intake Development Program a professionally administered and coached program for Tier 1 (2012 born) players. The program will be directly included in the highly successful SUSC BCSPL Program and all aspects of the U13 BCSPL player experience (including training curriculum, mental training, goal setting, etc.) will be included in the BCSPL Player Development Plan on which the program is built. 

 

The U13 BCSPL Pre-Intake Development teams will play a 9v9 game format, as per BC Soccer’s November 2022 directive for all U13 players. There will be a 3:1 training to game ratio throughout the 12 month program. The teams will compete in the BC Coastal Soccer League and there will be permitting opportunities into the 2010 age-group games, additional 11v11 training games and opportunities to augment the 9v9 league play. 

 

Coaching Staff

The coaching positions in the program will require the same certification level and experience standard that all BCSPL teams adhere to.

Mike Shearon - Head Coach

2012G BCSPL Pre-Intake

 

Mike Shearon is also currently serves as the  head coach of the Trinity University men’s soccer team and Unity men’s soccer team. Shearon, who hails from Macedonia, Ohio and currently resides in Langley, B.C. has an extensive coaching resume. He has over 15 years of experience in coaching youth soccer camps and was the director of Athletes in Action Soccer Camps from 1998-2003. At the university and club level, Shearon coached the Kopion FC Youth team from 1995-1997, was the JV and scouting coach with Wheaton College in 1996, and was also the assistant coach at   Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Mich. in 1997. He was the head coach of the Fraser Valley Action U21 team in 2001 and 2005 and the head coach of the Fraser Valley Action PCSL team in  2007.

Muchtar Ganief - Head Coach

2012B BCSPL Pre-Intake

 

Muchtar Ganief, a BCSA Provincial B License Coach, is set to lead the 2011 BCSPL Boys with his extensive coaching background. With 7 years as a SUSC Development/Select Coach, 2.5 years as a Coach for SUSC, and 5 years coaching youth teams with NDSC & Surdel Girls, Muchtar's coaching journey spans over a decade. At Surrey United, Muchtar has been instrumental in the success of various teams, including the recent achievements of the 2005 BCSPL Girls team Provincial Champions and their qualification to Nationals SUSC Technical coaching team since 2017. Muchtar's expertise and passion for fostering technical excellence in players make him a  valuable addition to the SUSC coaching team.

Full-time, paid head coach

  •  Non-parent assistant coaches

 

:1 training to game ratio

Attachment to SUSC BCSPL Program

  • Inclusion in all features of the BCSPL development program

  • Linkage with the 2010 BCSPL teams

    • Opportunities for call-ups / permits into BCSPL league games

 

Program training & game kit 

  • All players to receive a kit fit meeting and sizes will be finalized at that time

 

Affiliation with South Fraser District Association & BC Soccer

 

Local Legal Play (spring and fall) - year long program

Note - there will be additional opportunities for out of town games and tournaments. The cost of these are in addition to the program fees.

Registration & Timeline for Program Placement / Team Placement

 

The U13 BCSPL Pre-Intake Development Program is open to all interested players in the lower mainland. Like the SUSC BCSPL Program, the final player placement will be based on merit and inclusion of deserving players that meet the program’s standards. 

 

There will be team placement / evaluation sessions held in February 2024. These details will be sent directly to current SUSC U12 Select players and all out of club players that have registered using the SUSC Interested Players Form (see info below).

 

Currently registered SUSC players do not need to register and are already included in the team placement / evaluation process. More information will be shared directly with the current SUSC U12 teams and members.
