ACADEMY PROGRAMS OVERVIEW
Surrey United Soccer Club prides itself on its focus on player development, enjoyment, and advancement. Our academy programming provides accessibility to players of all skill levels and experience in the sport. The objective of our academy programs includes a personalized skill development approach, that sets out to boost and maximize each participant’s self-confidence, enjoyment, technical skills, vision, and awareness, and overall understanding of the game.
Our academy training curriculums include a broad range of both technical and tactical drills and skill development, speed and agility training, shooting and finishing, techniques of defending, creative attacking, scrimmage and game opportunities, and more. Each curriculum is developed from the guidelines of the Learn to Play pathway and Canada Soccer’s Youth and
Children’s License philosophies and is tailored to meet the needs of the participants in each training pod.
Our academies were created by our Sporting Director, Jeff Clarke over a decade ago and are led by our top technical team including SUSC Technical Director Troye Flannery and Assistant Technical Director Ronan Kelly. Graduating academy players include both WCFC residency players and REX players: Aleisha Ganief, Mikayla Tupper, Daniella Ramirez, Amanda Clauzel, Ireland Cox, & Keira Martin, Matteo Campagna, Jay Herdman, Joel Demian and Simon Colyn, Christopher Torressan, Jordan Fehlhaber, and AJ Twells.
In addition to making all programs accessible to all, the Surrey United Academy Programs are extremely affordable in comparison to many other soccer academy programs and training programs in other sports. The SUSC executive is proud to be able to support the members of the SUSC academy in this way and strives to ensure that all interested players in the community get a chance to participate. All field and session times are subject to change based on the final field allocations from the City of Surrey.
